A Brief History Of Terry Lee Honda

Terry Lee Honda, Avon Indiana, opened in February 2009. The state-of-the-art facility was designed to service not only the Avon community but the greater Indianapolis Honda also. And despite opening its doors during one of the country’s worst economic downturns, Terry Lee Honda quickly established itself as one of the region’s most competitive Honda franchises.

Founder and owner Lee has a long and successful career in the Indianapolis automotive market. He joined the Tom Wood organization as a salesman at the age of 21 and quickly began his ascent of the corporate ladder, working his way up the ranks into several management positions. After seven productive years with the Wood organization he left the company to take a position as sales manager at the prestigious Lockhart Cadillac franchise. But after five years his automotive roots beaconed and he rejoined Tom Wood as president and managing partner of Tom Wood Jaguar, Volvo, Land Rover, Porsche-Audi.

In 1995 Lee made a major career move, opening a Chevrolet store in Cincinnati, Ohio. With his leadership the struggling store became a highly successful franchise which he later sold in order to make way for another exciting opportunity, the construction of his new Honda franchise in Avon, Indiana.

Lee practices what he preaches, the “Terry Lee Commitment”. He believes that most peoples’ visit to Terry Lee Honda is a fact-finding mission and trains his salespeople to let the customer know that “…I’m not going to try and sell you a car today.” Lee believes that this approach takes the pressure off the shopper and allows the sales staff to better educate the customer and help them make a more educated buying decision-hopefully at Terry Lee Honda!
